Brownfield Revitalization Program

What is a Brownfield Assessment?

A comprehensive assessment of your property’s current condition offers valuable insights and recommendations to enhance its marketability and resale value significantly boosting its market appeal and value.

  • Removing the barriers to reuse clears the way for new redevelopment that can transform communities into sustainable and environmentally just places;
  • The program develops, tests, and advances a range of approaches that help communities safely reuse their underused, contaminated, and potentially contaminated properties;
  • Beyond addressing the environmental challenges, these properties require careful and innovative planning, local collaboration with public and private partners, and creative financing to unlock their potential.

EPA’s Land Revitalization approaches can help stabilize a distressed community, spur economic development, stimulate job growth, and cultivate healthy, livable communities

EPA Works to Ensure That:

  • Americans have clean air, land, and water; National efforts to reduce environmental risks are based on the best available scientific information;
  • Federal laws protecting human health and the environment are administered and enforced fairly, effectively, and as Congress intended;
  • Environmental stewardship is integral to U.S. policies concerning natural resources, human health, economic growth, energy, transportation, agriculture, industry, and international trade, and these factors are similarly considered in establishing environmental policy;
  • EPA’s Land Revitalization Program helps communities remove barriers to reusing and redeveloping properties that are or may be contaminated.
